Faculty, faculty, faculty test.
I just sat for the test this morning for NTU’s ADM (School Of Art, Design and Media). Results will probably be out around April. And so, about the test.
Oh, before I forget, when we got to the seats in the LT, Sarah reminded me that the Chief Invigilator resembles a lot like Prof Snape from Harry Potter. LOL! From the way he spoke, to his appearance. HAHA! Suddenly, I felt like I was in Potions’ lessons! HAHA. Ahh, I can’t seem to find his staff profile online to show you guys how much the two resembled!
Anyways, about the test, literally. Comprises of three questions, in which they will test 1) creative analytical thinking, 2) drawing and design skills and 3) opps, I have forgotten about this. Heh heh. I can’t exactly recall how they phrased it, but I have put them in my own words, and I believe the meanings should be along the same line.
So Question 1. 3 small pictures were provided for this question and we are to choose just 1 of them and a) give it a title, b) describe the emotion in the picture, c) add an design element to reverse/change the emotion, lastly d) add an design element to reinforce the emotion. The first picture was showing a part of a beach, with small waves hitting the sand. The second looked like a model sculpture of a shooting star coming from behind a building. The last, was about a old lady sitting in a little corner of an dark area counting something with some stuffs on the floor, rather she looked more like she is making a living by selling those stuffs on the floor. Hmm… Ok, I know it’s a little -.- and confusing but I can’t find similar pictures to show you guys as examples, so pardon me. :)
Guess what I choose?
.
.
.
Picture 3! HAHA. As I felt that was a much comprehensive image of them all.
Next, Question 2. We were given an empty space to illustrate either a) happiness, b) opps, I have forgotten! =x or c) nightmare. And we are not to colour it. So I chose a, and I drew a close up of a little girl’s face being lit up when being offered a balloon. The background was an amusement park with the Farris Wheel and Pirate Ship in sight and two other tents. However there was a fence between the girl and the park. HA! Think about this! :)
LASTLY! Question 3! Sounds nice huh. Last Question! But this is the most troublesome question of them all. Like Literature, there were 3 sub-questions and we had to choose 2. So I chose first and second as the third one seemed tough (about creating a 3-D sculpture model for a visually-impaired person using form and something I can’t remember =x etc).
Hmm… So for the first question, there are again 2 parts – a) is write a story/composition of 150 words with a selection of minium of 10 words from a list of words provided, and b) illustrate a cover for your story/composition. I think I spent quite some time at part a as I misread the question. Not to mention how silly I was to miss the ‘150 words’ and hence wrote a draft in pencil that couldn’t end. So being worried, I re-read the question and realised I only need to write 150 words! HAHA. So careless of me! And so, I rewrite another draft comprising of 11 given words. As for part b, because I spent a little too much time at a, I rushed through the illustration. Did a rather simple one, but I think it’s just ok.
For the second question of Q3, we were given 4 squares to illustrate ‘Changes and Growth’ in the comic strip-reading-pattern. And again, because I didn’t have much time left so I rushed through this too. Just drew a seed growing into an adult tree and the withering in the last square. Even of the positions of the sun, clouds, wind and snow flakes, I hope the assessors will know where am I getting at. =x
Finally I've completed the paper! HA!
.
.
.
Wait, not quite, because all the illustrations were drawn in pencil and there were a lot of sketch marks, so using the last 10 mins, I traced them out with black pen and even managed to colour slightly for Q3.
And with that! TA-TA! 1 ½ hours was gone!
Maybe because in RP, the culture was using laptops to take tests and hence we have grown to listening to the typing of keyboard during the crucial ½ hour. But today, I’ve been listening to people scribbling all along from the start to the end – non-stop. So old school, so refreshing, yet so annoying at the same time.
Well, I don’t know. I just hope to pass ;) HAHA. Speaking of which, this reminded me of Sarah, she was saying ‘this sort of thing don’t have pass of fail ah, just whether the assessors like it or not’. LOL.
Then we headed off to Bugis for lunch without Shannon because she was meeting her sister after the paper. No particular reason for that place, just that Sarah felt like going. HAHA! :)
After lunching at Yu Kee's Duck rice, we walked around abit and watched a Hip Hop Dance Competition near the fountain. We met Wan Sia there too! HAHA. She’s really an idol-chaser. HAHA! Oyes about the Dance Com. Whilst we were watching, some girl from Canon was going around to take picture for anybody and everybody. I guess she’s promoting a new product or something. What’s more worth it is that the picture can be printed out on the spot for FREE! Haha! Hmm... thing is 1) picture is not exactly taken nicely, 2) there's only 1 copy (how do we share among 2 of us? LOL), 3) Sarah thinks her expression is funny, now by the looks of it, I didn't looked good either, Sarah... HAHA! See the amount of FATS! omg.
Alrights, it's blurred cos it's of the wrong focus, please pardon my cell camera, ok.LOL.
With this I shall end this post!:)
GOODYNIGHTY PEOPLE!
OYASUMINASAI!
